About the 5K to Rebuild Wine Country

When the co-founders of Brighter Tomorrow Events Management learned of the North Bay Fires and the devastation that was caused, there was no question that we would hold an event to help with the relief efforts. Through our research of various organizations that were mobilizing for immediate relief efforts, one that stood out from the crowd for us was Rebuild Wine Country.

The Team: We selected to partner with Rebuild Wine Country for their strong ties to the communities in which their team, comprised entirely of volunteers, live and work and particularly for their focus on long-term giving. With Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County as the fiscal sponsor, Rebuild Wine Country is focused on rebuilding, repairing homes for renters who have lost their home, as well as new housing for homeowners who have been affected by these fires. Now more than ever Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County's mission of building homes and hope in our community could not be more important. 

The Event: We invite you to walk or run with your friends, family, club or corporate team and help create a brighter tomorrow for those affected by the North Bay Fires. On Sunday, March 11th the race will begin at 10:00 and be followed by a wine tasting event and family-friendly festival.

The Course: The race starts at the track on the Napa Valley College Campus and as you head south takes you through J.F. Kennedy Park along the scenic Napa Valley Vine trail and back. Flat and fast, this course is good for both walkers and runners of all ages. All abilities welcome!

Virtual Entry: For those who are unable to run the 5K Run to Rebuild Wine Country in person on race day, we invite you to show your support with our virtual entry option. 

All Virtual Race finishers will receive a finisher t-shirt and race bib!

Volunteer: Be a 5K Run to Rebuild Wine Country Volunteer! We need help before, during and after the event. This is one job that is also a lot of fun!

Benefiting Rebuild Wine Country and Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County

October 8, 2017

Six wildfires created a firestorm in the wine country communities of Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties. Many fled their homes with a moments notice with only the clothes on their backs. Entire neighborhoods were devastated as the fires spread overnight and continued into the days, and weeks, to come.

It took 23 days to contain the fires.

Over 200,000 acres and 8,900 structures burned, displacing tens-of-thousands of people. An estimated 3.3 billion dollars of damages have been reported for insured losses

Many families have nowhere to return. 

That is where we come in. With your support, we will rebuild and revitalize the cornerstone of wine country communities: homes.

While you can complete your run at any time we encourage you to run with us on March 11, 2018, at 10:00 AM (PST). You’ll receive the commemorative finisher T-shirt and a race entry bib in the mail. As a virtual participant, you can set up a virtual team of runners and your own fundraising page.

VOLUNTEER

Become a 5K to Rebuild Wine Country Volunteer!

We need help before, during and after the event!

BEFORE EVENT DAY 
We need volunteers to help drive registration by talking up our great event with friends and family in person and getting the word out via social media. 

ON EVENT DAY
We need about 75 volunteers to help out on the day of our event. We can’t do it without you!

Volunteer Opportunities Include
Check-in support
Registration table: Hand out T-shirts and other materials to registrants and provide event and course information.
Setup/cleanup: Lend a hand setting up and/or cleaning up on event day. 
Aid stations: Work at aid stations along the route to hand out water bottles and/or at the finish line to cut up fruit and disperse as needed.
Parking & Traffic: Help direct participants, sponsors, and others to parking, ensure runner safety, answer questions about the event, course, and festival as needed. 
Wine tasting event/festival: Assist guests and vendors with a variety of needs

About Rebuild Wine Country

Rebuild Wine Country is for long-term giving, spearheaded by a group of volunteer wine industry professionals. Immediate needs are being met by our fantastic community non-profit partners already. Our fundraising is about the bigger picture in the weeks, months, and years to come, protecting economic recovery for those without a roof over their head. With these funds, our fiscal sponsor Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County will distribute aid to sister chapters in all Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Lake, and Mendocino counties affected to repair and rebuild homes for those who need it most.
